Pool Winterization
A proper winterization prevents freeze damage, protects equipment, and makes spring opening a breeze. We do it right the first time.
Why Professional Winterization?
A single freeze event can crack PVC plumbing, split pump housings, and shatter filter tanks, repairs that easily run $1,500–$4,000. North Carolina winters are unpredictable: temperatures regularly dip below freezing in Union County, even if only briefly.
Our winterization is thorough and documented. We use commercial blowers (not shop vacs) to fully evacuate plumbing lines, and we leave behind a written record of every step taken so your spring opening tech knows exactly where things stand.
Best Time to Winterize in NC
We recommend scheduling between mid-October and mid-November, after water temps fall below 60°F but before the first freeze risk. Book early; slots fill by October.
Our 6-Step Winterization Process
We follow the same thorough checklist on every job, no shortcuts, no skipped steps.
Water Chemistry Adjustment
We balance your pool's chemistry to winterization spec, slightly elevated pH and stabilizer levels, so the water doesn't corrode or scale surfaces over the off-season.
Equipment Winterizing & Blowout
All water is blown out of plumbing lines with a commercial blower to prevent freeze cracking. Pump, filter, heater, and chlorinator are drained and secured.
Skimmer & Return Plug
Skimmer openings are plugged with Gizzmo freeze protectors. Return jets are plugged to keep standing water out of the plumbing.
Shock & Algaecide Treatment
A heavy shock dose and slow-dissolving algaecide tablet are dropped in to suppress algae growth over the dormant months.
Cover Installation
We install your safety or mesh cover, checking cable tension and anchors so it stays secure through winter storms. We can also supply and install covers if you need one.
Final Inspection & Report
We document the state of all equipment, water levels, and any items to watch when you reopen in spring, giving you a head start on next season.
